Fuel System 700 1988

i'm having a similar problem with my 87 740. My in-tank pump and fuel gauge both do not work. As a result the main pump under the car is running noisy and I occasionally have some stall out problems which might be related. still haven't fully diagnosed it, as this just came up. Be sure to check the wires on your sending unit before you go replacing any expensive fuel pumps. Mine look fine, but I haven't taken the unit out yet (need to burn more than half the gas in the tank first). I've had a handful of corrosion problems lately, including electrical failures, fuel line leaks and cracked starter cable. four years with no garage has finally caught up with me. salty chicago streets don't help either.
