1987 740 brakes and misc problems. 700

Are the brakes disk brakes and fairly easy to replace? Anything I should know about the procedure? I once replaced the disk brakes on a Chevy, but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Secondly, the vehicle failed inspection due to the exhaust leak. I was told that the problem is between the catalytic converter and the muffler. I still need to confirm this. How common is that, and how hard is it to replace that part?

Thirdly, the coolant boils over even while the upper radiator hose is hot. I assume the T-stat opens just fine. Why exactly does the coolant boil over from the reservoir? Would it help swapping the T-stat?
