Is anybody else's 240 grill badge deteriorating? 200 1984

1984 240: the grill has a chrome slash with a square badge. Behind the clear cover of the badge, their is a chrome Volvo logo. On my car this chrome logo is becoming mottled or splotchy, almost like it has little stains on it. I thought it was sealed behind the plastic but there must be some air getting to it somehow for this to happen. Can't seem to pull the clear cover off without ruining the whole set-up. Anybody else see this happening on their cars?
