Headlights 200

Hi Sara -

I have a question for you. You say: Could it be a relay switch or sensor? I looked at the relay switch diagram and do not see a specific "headlamp" relay.

What relay switch diagram did you look at?

On the 1988 (my newest) the headlights, in order to light, must get two relays to work. One is the the relay referenced by your other responses as being near the driver's left toe. It is closed when the ignition is on and the headlight switch is on.

The second relay is the hi/low stepping relay that is mounted, along with other things, on the rail on the inner fender a little aft of the battery.

That first relay is not involved with the headlight flasher circuit. Can you flash the lights? When you attempt to flash the lights, can you hear the stepping relay operating? May need to raise the hood.

Good Luck,

Bob
