164 Steering Alignment 140-160 1974

My reference to master spline was to illustrate alignment technique it did not refer to volvo. To align cars without adjustable tierods, disconnect steering at pitman arm, centre steering box, adjustplay in sector shaft making sure it is on high spot of worm without any binding, mark top centre of wheel in adjusted position, reconnect to pitman arm, align wheels for proper tracking, if mark on wheel has moved pitman arm can be moved on the spline to compensate, remove wheel and recentre in straight ahead position, this keeps box on high point of adjustment and takes care of any problems incurred over the years. Regardless of how old a vehicle is it can be made to steer as it was designed to. Most "experts" will adjust toe only and take your money, so shop around.
