check engine light 700 1987

I have a check engine light on. I have tried to reset the light behind the instrument cluster. The service engine light still stays on. I have changed the oil. I have changed the cat. What else could it be. I understand the car does have a brain but no codes are available for this year of car. So now that I have got my electrical problem fixed on to the next problem. I am open to any suggestions with the service engine light. Thanks to all that helped with my power stage.
