CAT Converter Switchout 900 1991

On Closer inspection of the head pipe, i saw no cracks or problems, but discovered that the weld on the pipe comeing OUT of the CAT was totally busted open and the tube disengaged. The rest of the exhaust components seem fine. Is it a big job to change the CAT myself, doesn't look very complicated. If i order my new CAT how do i know if i need a gasket for the EGR? Do i even have EGR, how would i know, where is it? Thanks for the help.
