PROBLEM SOLVED..80 244 GL Fuel Relay OK,, but.. a jumper to left hand side of fuses 200 1980

Thanks to all who have given me hints regarding my GL's fuel system. I had been using the workaround jumping the fuel pump fuses since the first day of my problem.

Today, I finally decided to trace the wiring and get to the bottom of this. I found another relay under the dash on the driver's side. It was where one of the wires from the relay under the hood went.

One look at it and you could see there was a problem. One of the connections to the relay apparently had become a bit loose, and I think the increased heat from the resistance cooked the relay. Thank goodness I had my spare '80 (wagon) with a trusty relay I just plugged in AFTER I snugged up the push on connector of the cooking wire.
I'm sure that that'll do the trick. I have correct fuses in place. I exposed this relay for now (threaded it through the hole for the heater blower) in order that I can keep a close eye on it to be sure this one doesn't cook.

After letting it idle for a few minutes, it's been as cool as a cucumber.

Thought you'd all like to know the good news. I don't have to worry about forgetting to remove my jumper clips from the fuse holder.

Funny story, tho.. I had to go to a dinner at a pretty nice place the other nite, and it began to rain. I was driving up and thinking, terrific! they have valet parking! I don't have to get wet! As I was about to get out of the car, I forgot about the jumper.. I ended up having to park the darned car by myself..the parking attendant had a good chuckle with that one.

Thanks again!
Larry
