fuel pump replacement 140-160

My S.E.V. fuel pump has failed. (B20B, carbs). It is leaking a lot of gas from the bottom. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the seal at the diaphragm. I took it apart and the rubber around the diaphram seems ok. It's a bit worn. But in any case, there were no tears in it. Should I just buy a pierburb replacement pump, or is there some common blockage or something which I should look into by taking the top off?
