Bendix FI fuel pressure regulator 700 1990

I am friends with a retired couple who recently purchased a 1990 745 with Bendix (Rex/Regina) fuel injection. They told me the car gets only 17 mpg driving in town. The fuel economy should be better than that.

When I had the hood up, I noticed the fuel pressure regulator had been recently replaced, and that it was the same part number as on my LH 2.2 Jetronic car. Is it supposed to be the same part number?
