parking brake/alternator lights acting strange 200 1989

volvo fans,

my parking brake and alternator lights are acting strange.

after i start the car, they both remain on until i rev the motor. then they go out and all is well.

so i have been suspecting for some time that i was in for an alternator replacement.

now i'm not sure.

yesterday, my wife actually made a great observation. ususally her observations are not so great. you know, like "i think one of my tires is low" as she drives up the drive on the rim.

she noticed that if the parking brake is not put on when the car is shut off, the lights do not act up. very interesting.

anyone have a clue?

thanks.
