air conditioning not blowing cold 700 1992

I purchased a 1992 740 turbo wagon a couple of months ago. The AC system was converted to R134 about 2 years ago. I tried to use the AC a few days ago, and found that no cold air was coming from the system. Figured I needed a recharge. A visit to NAPA found that my system has plenty of charge. Now I'm a bit lost.

The compressor runs when I "unpress" the "AC off" button. I then turn the temp select dial all the way counter-clockwise and set the fan speed to at least level 1 (these directions are straight out of the owners manual). After driving for several minutes of no cold air, I'll stop the car and checked under the hood to see if the cooling lines are getting cold - and they are. I checked all AC related fuses, and all are OK.

I'm wondering if there is some relay or other switch that is not operating that might not allow my system to blow cold. With the AC on, turing the temp dial all the way to "hot", I get plenty of heat. Typically, I would think that with the AC on, "hot" would mean less cold, not hot. Is there something not telling my system that I want really cold air (i.e. AC), not semi-warm non-conditioned air?

Anyhow, I don't want to pay someone to spend 2 hours diagnosing this thing if it's only a switch or relay that I can replace. I'm a new Volvo owner, so my knowledge is limited. I'd appreciate any help you can provide!

Thanks!
