my head is off 1800

Would suggest that you have hardened ext seats put in, check the guide to valve clearances, check the condition of the valves and seats ( probably having them all touched up) and consider having some porting of the exhaust port done if you want improved performance. While you have the head off it would be a good idea to check the condition of the lifters and the cam lobes.
