Tranny swap from an '84 240dl Wagon to an '87 240dl. Possible without extra parts? 200 1987

Last October my 1987 240dl started to lose Overdrive. It would kick on after the car warmed up, but soon after (10 or so miles) I would lose it again and kick back down to 3rd. The car would have to sit off for hours until I could get OD back. At first I was convinced it was a temperature issue and not a mechanical one but the problem has gotten worse since. It's now reluctant to shift into 2nd and 3rd, depending the the temperature outside. The tranny has already been flushed and cables adjusted, I now think I need to swap Transmissions. Would a transmission from an '84 240dl Wagon bolt up to the '87 sedan, or would I need conversion parts for the process? I'm on a college kid on a budget.
