I need help with a wierd transmission problem 900 1993

1993 940 turbo wagon with an AW-71(L?) 165,000 miles.

Sometimes, and I do mean sometimes, my transmission does not like to go into reverse. When it doesn't like to go into reverse, neutral wants to go forward. Even Park wants to go forward.

I have replaced the transmission mount and flushed the fluid. I have also replaced the OD relay with a known good relay.

At times it seems like everything is perfect...put the car into reverse and back up. Other times it shudders in reverse to the point where I can only go back about 10 feet before it just won't go anymore.

At all times forward seems spot on prefect...smooth shifting all the way.

The reverse problem tends to be worse after I have driven for a half hour or so.

Can somebody tell me WTF is going on?

Ian
