my head is off 1800

What a pain in the ass...one of them silly mistakes almost everybody makes once... but never again. I had to pull the rocker assembly and a couple pushrods just to install my heater fan and motor... ended up pulling the head.

Push them pushrods sideways at the bottom enough to get them out of their little seats in the lifters. Then extract them.

The fact though that you did pull one out would sort of indicate that the lifters are probably good... if they are at all worn, they will mushroom very slightly at the bottom, and not fit so easily out of their holes...
