No 1 knows anything about 82 240 CIS Fuel Sys. ???? 200

There is a fuel line that comes off the side of the fuel distributor and comes around to the front of the airflow sensor where there is a Freq. Valve w/ a plug to it and then the fuel line continues around to the other side of fuel distributor. I the fuel line coming from drivers side of fuel dist. started leaking at both ends between the Freq. Valve and fuel dist..I trimmed the hard black plastic like fuel line to fix the leak but am unable to slide the banjo bolts into the line. What is the best, easiest or only way to slide the line onto the banjos???
I proceeded to take out the fuel dist from atop the airflow sensor and when i loosened and removed the pressure regulating valve there was NO shims or spring inside the regulator valve. Can you confirm this isnt right and advise on a solution please?
