89 760 mysterious rain water leak 700

The driver's side carpet on my 89 760 wagon gets wet when it rains. I have checked the FAQs on this subject and have eliminated all of them. The kick panel and panel under the dash are off until I fix this. Nothing showing at the vent cover left of the drivers feet, nothing at the wiring through the door. I have run a garden hoses into the air vents behind the hood. I feel nothing running down the inside of the firewall. I spread newspaper out under the dash hoping to see evidence of drops of water. Nothing. But the leak is certainly there. And it leaks while sitting parked in the driveway. My next step is to remove the carpet completely and sit in the car in a rainstorm. This is very frustrating. If anyone has found other ways that water gets into these cars, I would really appreciate some help.

Thank You
Alan
