Moaning air condiioners 900 1994

Both the wifes 940 940T (r134) & my 2 745T make odd sounds when the air is on or after it has been shut off.

I notice mine mostly when I shut the car off and the hood is up. It is like it is relieving pressure somewhere - comes from the passenger side of the motor bay.

Wifes is while she is driving and she says it rises and falls - a moan or groan. When she turns the air off it stops.

Any ideas?
