Engine flush 200 1987

Yikes! Imagine bumping into someone on this board that is actually familiar with my quiet little corner of the woods -- what are the odds for that?? Do you come here once in a while? Please contact me if you do, and I'll pick you up at Sola in the nicest-looking 240 you ever saw! :)

A little background: My old father drove this car for its first 124,000 km -- very, very carefully. I doubt if the accellerator had been floored until the car came in my possession. -When I drove it home and overtook a truck in an uphill, the truck protested with his horn as I effectively had him trapped in a big, dark cloud!

This is now 20,000 km and two years ago. I use the gas pedal a lot more actively than he ever did, but my problem is that typically the car never really gets warmed up: The wife uses it the 9 km to her office, and in the afternoons it makes a 2 km trip to get groceries. A sure reciepe for carbon build-up. After I started using hotter plugs, things got a little better. What really helped for quite a while though, was making a trip to Germany last summer: Doing 90-100 mph for hours along the Autobahn seemed to be a very healthy cure, the car seemed a lot more agile afterwards. I'll take him through Germany again this July, so with a little fuel additives until then I hope to get a good start of the trip.

Thanks to everybody for your response.

Erling.
