Engine flush 200 1987

Yeah suffered the same on a 84 B23E GLT (UK spec - nice power!) Suffered from pinging at acceleration. Tried a few things, ending up removing the head for a manual job. This should not be too bad a job on your B230k. Tricky part is to remove the exhaust manifold, but in your case you do not suffer the steering column and brake booster that I did ;-). I think you could even try to leave the manifold on the head and disconnect the down pipe only.

Get a new Volvo head gasget, you do not want to compromise quality there.

Now I have a wapping 110hp B200F 92 240, still UK spec, but I live in Asker now (ex-pat). We have the E18 which I frequently cruise at an illigal 110kmph. Hard to say if you have carbon build up on these Jetronic engines since the pinging is taken care of. It's done 300kkm now, maybe I should pull the head as well. The darn thing never goes wrong, I am bored. I want my 84 back (but not the rust though)

Reg,

Jorn
