Stoiching the fire... 140-160 1974

That was my concern, excess combustion temp. More advance reduces EGT (to a point)?

Hot plug check is: kill engine quick at 3K rpm after hard run, check for tan, not white?

I have a code 155 tranny from a 2.3 tbird turbocoupe. Top gear is almost exactly (.079) the same as m41. Got it cheap. When I get a fresh engine I'll find a 5.0. I like the 1st gearing, as I haul some heavier things.

I used a speedo cable from a mustang, modified the speedo end to fit volvo speedometer. The only real problem is that the straight length of speedo gear housing plus the cable end pushes it hard against the 1974 145 tunnel/body. I get some rattling on hard corners. The cable was cheap enough ($18 at Napa) that I can just wait and see how long it lasts there, but it does transmit some noise, being so tight. The speedo end, I just have to snip a good housing end from a boneyard Volvo and crimp it on the speedo end of the Ford cable.

Thanks.
