Engine/Electrical cut out 700

The wife was driving the 85 740 non-turbo on an errand when the lights went out, the battery light came on, and the engine died. She coasted to a stop in a parking lot and them almost immediately restarted the engine and drove home with everything appearing normal. After 12 years this is first.

At home I started the car twice in about an hour and jiggled every wire I could touch at the battery, coil, alternator, wiring harness, and injectors and could not get it to happen again. There are numerous wires with missing insulation, but I could not find any indications of arcing or grounding.

I have reviewed the FAQ's and did not find anything that sounded famililar. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.
