Torque Spec's Flywheel 700 1989

Hey, John,

Do you have any idea what would cause a deep vibration/soft shuddering at the flywheel-converter connection after doing an R&R to correct a leaky real main seal? It is evident upon start-up and varies with engine speed.

After I reassembled my '89 740 turbo, this symptom came up. It was not there before. I still need to rule out vibration/noise from the leaky exhaust connection at the turbo outlet-to-down pipe, but I think I still have some flywheel/converter symptom.

I marked the relative position of the flywheel-to-engine crank before removing it. Put it back on in same position, even though I did not go through the routine of putting the engine at TDC and the arrow on the *inside* of the flywheel at 3 o'clock. (or, whatever it is, as I forget now) (I didn't see the need, as I put the flywheel back onn in it's orignial position anyhow)

Used locktite on the flywheel bolts (not new bolts). Reinstalled the two retainers correctly. Check torque specs.

Didn't mark the coverter-to-flywheel position. Neither manual I have, nor any 700/900 FAQ said this is needed. Is it?

Again, locktite was used on the coverter bolts.

Could not check torque specs, though, as I had difficulty even getting a box wrench over them. I did make them firmly hand-tight and I have a fairly good "feel" for the torque spec.

Transmission case mounted up tightly before torquing all M12's and such.

Can't think of what I might have done wrong.

Can you?
