AC cycles on/off every 5 seconds 200

I just used the AC for probably the first time this year. It's near 70 out today and I drove for about 1/2 hour. The air was okay cold but not chilly. I left it run to inspect the engine for the heck of it, and noticed a rather noisy cycling of the compressor at around 5 second intervals. But it does sound like it's working a bit. Perhaps it's always made this much noise and I just never noticed. Does this sound normal? Thanks,
