R134 conversion -is it critical to get ALL the old oil out? 900 1991

I am posting this for Ben, my stepson and his first Volvo - a 91 940T.

He has the compressor off and has drained the oil. He wants to know how to get that last bit of the old oil out (if it is that critical)before he puts in the new. Seems like I read something on this, but can't recall.
