Setting digital clock in radio cassette player 200 1988

Ooops, I think something's gone haywire. I follow the instructions to set the digital clock in the radio cassette player but when it says to 'turn the radio tuning knob' to set the hour and then to do the same to set the minutes nothing happens. It is as if the tuning knob (yes, it works fine for the radio) is disconnected from the clock's circuit. The clock says on 12:00 and nuttin ain't budging it. Any advice sure would be welcome. Happy Motoring! Vince
