Transmission won't go in gear 900 1993

I have been working at a volvo shop for two years and have never had this problem. I am no longer working there but, I went to help a friend change there rear main seal. All went smoothly, put the tranny back up and changed the fluid and cleaned the pan out. Now the car won't go in any gear. I have taken the tranny down twice to make sure the torque converter was engaged. Anyone no what is going on, or any advice?
