86' 240 Wagon rear defrost wiring?????? 200

I have a newly acquired wagon and I am not sure how the wiring for the rear defrost should be hooked up.
There is a black wire coming out of each side of the rear tailgate window.
The driver side wire goes down and into the tailgate and is connected to a yellow and black wire. These wires then go into the main wiring harness and up to the top of the tailgate and then into the roof, obviously to the front of the car.
The passenger side wire comes down and is just hanging there. There are no obvious wires there where it might have fallen loose from or any other indication as to where it is connected. It does have a round connector on the end which makes me believe it may be screwed down somewhere to the body, possibly as a ground for the circuit?????? There isn't much in the bentley or Haynes manual. Oh yeah, my defrost light comes on when I push the switch but it doesn't defrost.
If anyone can walk me through this, I would appreciate it!!!!!
