Car broken down 700 1988

Hi everyone,

I am currently driving an 1988 740gle. It has 230K miles on it. Anyhow, I was driving on the highway and it died. No warning- I just looked at the tach and it was reading 0 the engine was off, so I threw on the hazards shifted into neutral and pulled over. I looked under the hood and founds nothing abnormal (except for a mouse, which was clearly living in the engine bay). i towed the car home and checked the spark first. i held the ignition coil wire on the distributer side near one of the grounds on the engine block and discovered that there was no spark. My mechanic gave me a slew of parts because we have a good relationship and i tried fixing the following things:

1. put in a used distributer (uncertain if it actually is a working one or not, but the car didn't start
2. ignition module on the drivers side near the air box, still wouldn't start
3. ignition coil, still no spark or start
4. gas relay (no spark/no start)

the car still doesn't start and there is still no spark. Clearly, there should be a spark from the end of the coil wire and there is not. I'm not sure if the animals living in the engine bay got to anything either.

I've ran out or ideas!

please help me!
THANKS
MIKE
