Hi everyone,
I was talking to my mechanic today and he mentioned turbo +. He has a turbo + kit (of an '87 745T) that's just been sitting around in a box. He said that I should put it on my 745T. My '91 B230FT was rebuilt almost 2 years ago and I have put about 28K km (~18K mi) on it since. As far as I and my mechanic are aware the turbo (TD04) is original and now has about 288K km (~180K mi) on it. It seems to be working great. My mechanic adjusted the wastegate rod a little when he put the turbo on after the rebuild, so we figure it's putting out a little more boost then stock (maybe 9-10 psi). My question is; Should I put the turbo + kit in to give a little more surprise at high RPM? My understanding is that it only works over 4000 RPM and provides 12 psi boost. Since my turbo is putting out more then stock does this mean that the turbo + would provide more then 12 psi when activated? I don't want to push my engine too hard as it's an engine that I'd like to keep working well for a while, but I wouldn't mind a little more punch. The only mod I was thinking that I might do in the future is the new turbo cam from IPD and *maybe* an IPD performance exhaust, although I don't mind the stock exhaust with a stright tip. The airbox has had the insulation removed, but I don't think that matters much. I've used Amsoil in it since about 7K km after the rebuild. So anyway, I was just interested in what you guys would have to say as I don't think it's a bad idea and neither does my mechanic. Thanks in advance :)
