Car broken down 700 1988

Whilst cranking, look at the tach - needle should jump. If not you either have a hall sensor fault (common), ECU fault (less likely) or power stage fault (possible). Given that only the replacement dist. was used (I assume), suspect it as it contains the hall sensor.

If needle jumps, listen for fuel pump as key is released - should hum for a second. If not, check the fuel pump relay (common failure) then the main pump.

If OK on above, check coil and HT cables. Assuming your GLE has continuous injection and gas in the tank, car should now start. Regards.
