87 240 and dome light relay 200

"Delay" position? AFAIK the light has three positions, On all the time, off all the time, and controlled by the door switches.

The driver's door switch has a delay relay in the circuit that is not in the other doors' circuits. The delay is 10-17 seconds.

The system runs off Fuse #8.

How does the light perform when controlled by the non-driver's doors?

I have a 1986 244GL and a 1988 244GL, both daily drivers. They are greatly similar. The 1988 is considered a very good year. The 1986 has the old style flame trap location, old style fuel pressure regulator, old style idle air control motor. The 007 AMM is found in 86, 87, 88 models. The 88 has the upper door weatherstrip which reduces air noise.

I have found no inherent problems in my two, but you should inspect the wiring harness which begins at the gray connector on the firewall. That harness on my 1986 has been rebuilt, and the problem was resolved by Volvo for the 1988 year.

Good Luck,

Bob
