Go to a dealer and pay the $20 (or so) for a brand new grid. Then have available a scrap of low napp carpet, coupla feet square or so.
Also have your vacuum cleaner handy.
Remove the seat. Vacuum clean all the stuff that you can't get at when the seat is in place - all the month-old french fries, gune wrappers, missing pennies, bits of seat foam, etc. Do a super job, as you won't be back again for several years.
With the seat upside down, you can see how things are. The carpet is to put in three places. Easiest is a piece cut to fit between the grid and the foam block.
If the seat perimeter frame has begun cutting into the foam block I put a piece, maybe 11 inches by 3 or 4, wrapped over the top of the perimeter frame sides. This requires pulling the hog rings (save for re-use) using a pair of slip-joint pliers and a pair of needle-nose pliers, so the the side skin fabric can be moved to allow clearance for the carpet.
You will see how the adjuster system fits into the same place as the non-adjuster system. Actually the passenger seat can be adjusted, but there are bolts instead of the moveable pins, so it's a one-time thing.
Good Luck with the job. The re-habbed seat will be most comfortable.

PS: There ain't no easy way to stretch the springs back into place. I start with one of the middle pairs.
