Rear leak - other causes besides rear main seal 700 1989

Hi

I developed a leak from the rear of the engine a year ago after switching to Mobil1. The bottom of the distributor was oily and my mechanic at the time changed the valve cover gasket and soon after a new distributor; rotor, cap, seals and all (this was replaced unrelated to the leak)

It still leaked but since there was no puddle on the driveway I left it be. Now it's causing an oil puddle on my garage floor. I've put in new distibutor seals and replaced the valve cover gasket as per FAQ with blue RTV last week. It's still leaking.

The engine block below the distributor is oily. I don't think it's the distributor shaft seal as there's no oil beneath the dist. dust cap. The lower lip of the rotor is slightly oily though.

Anything else that could leak from that area? Or am I staring at a leaking rear main seal? The bellhousing by the way is quite oil free.

Thanks in advance
