Heater core failure? 700 1991

Hi John,

Yeah, I know it's a big job :( My mechanic did one last summer in a '90 744 NA and he said it was a nightmare. I'd probably do most of the work myself with his assistance. Of course I'd have to buy the heater core. Do you have any idea why the smell seems to go away after a few minutes and not return? I thought that was weird. Well, I guess I'll have to do the tests my mechanic suggested to know for sure that that's the problem. I should do the job soon as I know breathing in that coolant is not a good thing, plus I don't want to have a coolant spill in my baby. This sucks! I wish it was something simple like it usually is! Sounds like the Vo's in for a COMPLETE cooling system revamp :( Thanks for the quick response.
