The ECU shouldn't be too much of a factor, because you can keep an eye out for some spares off of known running vehicles.

Values can vary a bit from one region to another, and condition of vehicle. The Blue Book at kbb.com is a always a good source for a private party resale value. You'll get a figure that you can use as a basis for negotiation.
