Heater core failure? 700 1991

Hi Chris,

Well, maybe the dexcool didn't cause a problem, but once the new headgasket was slipped in and the cooling system was refilled with green coolant there wasn't a problem and there hasn't been since (knock on wood). The head was checked and plained during the engine rebuild and no problems were found. I know what you mean about GM having problems with it; Our '98 GMC Sierra (305 V8) has had a couple cooling system problems. Water pump needed to be replaced at ~100K km, and we just had the intake manifold gaskets replaced at ~116K km. This is on a truck that's been treated and maintained well.
