Fuel leaking from under car 700

Hi,
My buddy had his fuel filter replaced on his "early 90's/late 80's" volvo 740, by some garage. The next day he noticed fuel dripping fron under the car, when the car was running, from where the fuel filter was. Upon closer inspection by me, I noticed that it was not the filter that was leaking, but the "module" next to the filter, presumably the fuel pump. That is my guess due noticing a tube/hose running from the gas tank to this module, and it's apparent connection to the fuel filter. Unfortunately, my friend does not have a repair manual, nor a jack, which would have allowed me to get under the car to confirm. Any suggestions or advice?
