Head Gasket or Turbo 700 1991

I have a recently purchased 740 Turbo with 110,000 miles on it. The car was overheating due to Radiator crack and I just replaced it with what I will admit was an inexpensive radiator easily available from Radiator.com. The car ran fine for about a day after that, but now has trouble starting, and spews LOTS of exhaust, mostly white smoke. The temperature gauge stays right in the middle. I assumed that the head gasket was shot but someone suggested it could be the turbo since the car is not overheating....any thoughts? Thanks
