Heat from Vents and the Radio 200 1989

In the newer dashes with the radio up top, how have you guys been fairing with heat and the radio?

For some reason, even when I'm running the air conditioner, my radio gets really hot. Sometimes, especially when I've been idling a bit and the A/C has been working great, the radio gets so hot that I think it causes the CD to be misread--playback gets spotty and the CD starts skipping, even if it's pretty clean and scratch-free. When I take the CDs out, there almost always really hot, and so I'm concerned about both putting in my "real" CDs (I play a lot of CD-Rs I burned) and permanently damaging the interior mechanism of the radio by warping a laser lens or something.

Has anyone else had problems like this? What should I do? The A/C vents don't exactly angle up onto the radio, so I see no way to get it to cool other than just turning it off and hoping it cools down.
