Head Gasket 1994 940 B230 non-turbo 900 1994

Car left outside unattended for 3 yrs, 70k miles, started seconds after turning key w/old gas and fresh battery. Replaced gas filter, in-tank fuel pump (rail pump ok), water pump, & thermostat. Have anti-freeze leak right side of front cylinder where head meets block. Told to use Bar's (or similar) radiator stop leak in lieu of replacing head gasket. Any suggestions? Would this be...a sin?
