I have read the FAQ's to great length, but there is no solid indication as to where the timing marks are for the B6300 engine.
The first picture shows the crankshaft. From bottom to top we have: balance weight, pulley for accessory belt, and timing belt gear. Not shown on the picture behind the pulley is the hub for the pulley. The aluminum housing shows a yellow cirle around a vertical line on that housing. The hub has a single line or dent on it. When this line is lined up with the line on the housing the first piston is not TDC.
Apparently these are not the timing marks.
But where are they? If you have done this before (successfully) then please describe where the marks are and the size of the marks.
The second picture shows the exhaust camshaft gear. Inside the yellow circle is the letter M stamped into the gear. It is in the valley. Over on the bottom left corner is another circle, indicating where someone has used white marking material. I am under the impression that these are marks that someone made for themselves, i.e. these are not lasting marks as Volvo would make them.
Is the M the right mark?
Obviously I have lost the correct timing on this vehicle due to the timing belt failure. The gears have not been removed from the camshafts.
I have a rebuild head sitting waiting to be put on, and an unahppy wife with cabin fever.
Is there someone who can help?
