K-jet fuel injector internal O-ring 200 1980

I attempted to replace the internal O-ring in one of my injectors - I got the O-ring to slide up the injector to the groove, but I can't push the injector down enough to get the O-ring to seat fully in the plastic housing. Is there a trick to do this? I was going to do it for all 4 but if I can't get this one in, I'm not doing the others (did replace the external thinner O-rings though). It's already been suggested to replace the entire plastic housing, but wouldn't I just have the same problem with the new housing?

Thanks

Zack
