R-134 Conversion Woes....85' 240 200 1985

Guys

A couple of months ago I took the decision to convert my AC system to R-134. I had to replace an AC hose(broke), the condenser(frozen connection to the hose) in front of the radiator and the receiver drier. During the winter when I did the conversion I was happy that cold air was coming from the vents. However now that the weather has gotten much warmer I have to admit that even that the AC dumps cold air it is not enough to cool the cabin. As far as the operation of the AC I have observed that the AC clutch is cycling according to specifications meaning that there is refrigerant in the system. When I charged the system I even had added a very well know refrigerant booster which claimed to boost refrigeration for over 20%. It was a 2-3 oz green bottle but I can't remember the name. A couple of years ago I had fixed a small leak on the expansion valve connection to the firewall(passenger side) since there was some Refrigerant leaking.

I talked with a mechanic friend and he recommended that the expansion valve might be stuck open or something like this.

Could this be true...or anyone had a similar experience. What are the symptoms of a faulty expansion valve?
