Motor Mounts 900 1997

Regarding 1997 960 150,000 miles

While changing oil and filter I noticed that the oil pan appeared to be resting on the cross-member without clearance. There appeared to be a rubber pad approx. 1/2" thick between the cross member and the bottom of the oil pan.

Should there be a clearance between the pan and cross member. Do the motor mounts collapse with age? Can the mounts be replaced by me or is this a job for the pro's? Thanks for your assistance.
