front/back pulsating auto-gearshift on braking - problem? 700 1992

I am a 240 guy, but this should pertain to 740 also.

The shifter is connected to the tranny by a long link, pivots on both ends. That means that any side to side movement of the tranny (as caused by having really bad motor mounts) would not translate into the shifter.

However, fore to aft movements will translate, and you are getting just that.

I vote for the tranny mount as the culprit. When that one gets weak, it tends to accelerate the failure of the motor mounts. Maybe best to do all three.

Good Luck,

Bob
