Is it possible to replace the whole rooflining with good quality vinyl as opposed to fabric?

Thankfully, my 1990 745 has one of the best headlinings I have ever seen on a 740, being fully intact, sag and rip- free and only very slightly grubby: One of the things which made me buy the car in the first place...

Still, I don't expect it to last forever, and I don't relish the though of recovering the backing panel . I think I will end up getting a replacement from a late 945 to save hassle :)
