544 front spring walking 444-544

The front spring of my 65 544 has started to "walk" right after replacing the upper inner and outer control arm bushings. The spring is rubbing the body and making a horrific noise. I rotated it back to the proper place, but after 50 miles it is doing it again. The camber on this side was off and corrected afterwards...is it possible that the old springs do not have enough "spring" to compensate for the extra length from the camber adjustment?
I was hoping to avoid new spring purchase until the amazon wagon was finished.
Thanks in advance,
-Erik
