B230E - is it supposed to have a RPM sensor? 700 1989

Currently my car has a Hall sensor. I was told recently that according to the factory manual, my 1989 model is supposed to have a RPM sensor instead of the Hall sensor.

I know the RPM sensor is on top of the bellhousing but I've never actually seen one. There is some sort of connector from the firewall dangling. Can anyone help describe where it is exactly or even better have a picture of it?

In addition is it actually possible for someone to change from a RPM sensor to a Hall sensor or vice versa?

Thanks
